NO CLEAN-UP, NO MESS HOMEMADE SUGAR-FREE KETCHUP
You are not going to believe how easy it is to make your own ketchup (and bar-b-cue sauces)! After the first time we threw this together, we have never bought another store-brand ketchup since. Not only is it completely sugar-free, high-fructose corn syrup free, and additive free, but it is also ridiculously simple and easy to create with ingredients you probably already have in your pantry. Plus, it goes fabulously with tortas and/or egg muffins!
Things you’ll need:
- Old condiment container (we used an old mustard one)
- Tomato paste (2 large bags or 4 small)
- Lime juice (or lemon)
- Vinegar (any kind will do)
- Cinnamon
- Salt
- Cayenne (optional)
- Stevia (optional)
Instructions:
- Open the top to your container, squeeze in the tomato paste.
- Add a generous dash of cinnamon, salt, and stevia (and a small dash of cayenne).
- Fill the remaining space in the bottle with half vinegar and half lime juice.
- Shake bottle vigorously
Be sure to label it 🙂 and then store in fridge to chill and for the flavors to combine.
For Bar-B-Cue sauce, you will just need to add honey, or more stevia, cloves (or nutmeg will do), and more cinnamon. We always have liquid smoke, so we add a dash of that as well for a smokiness flavor. If you like it spicy, add your favorite hot sauce as well!
