Quick & Easy, Bring-to-School, Healthy Kid Snack Ideas!

Bag of Plantain chips

Let’s face it, we parents are so busy and getting our kids eating healthy can seem exhausting (especially when a bag of chips is so convenient). But it doesn’t have to be. You just need to know what to have on stock in the pantry.

Our kids don’t eat school lunch food. They eat what we eat, which is meat, vegetables, healthy fats, nuts & seeds. The kids also enjoy roots, tubers, and fruit occasionally. So, I completely understand the struggle of figuring out what to pack into a school lunch or snack.

My boys are like any other; they do not want to be ridiculed or seem “strange.” I understand. And believe me, we’ve had all the talks, “Don’t let it bother you.” “Mommy’s friends don’t all eat the same things and we can still poke jokes at what we eat and BE FRIENDS regardless.” “Who eats your food – do you or your friends?” “Explain why you choose to eat healthier food options – makes you stronger, brain healthier, and makes you feel good, etc…” and so on and so on….

So throughout the years, I have boiled down some items they will bring.

Here are my “kid-approved” bring-to-school food items. Most items can be found at almost any grocery store or amazon. But I also put where I purchase them.

FROM FOODTOWN: Seaweed chips made with palm oil, a huge variety of different plantain chips made with palm oil.

FROM ALDI: cured meats, turkey sticks, pork rinds, cheese sticks, pickles, lunch meats, variety of dry roasted tree nuts, bubbly water or any flavored soda water that is sugar free.

FROM WALMART: lunch packs (made with cheese, meat and almonds) cheese sticks, yogurt (Oiko brand has flavored yogurts made with stevia), cottage cheese, walnuts, almonds, Brazilian nuts, pistachios, pecans, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds (dry roasted or raw),
